I'm thinking of installing windows 7 rc on a new pc build to later be upgraded to the full release version when it comes out. My question is...will all the software and hardware that is compatible with vista automatically be compatible with windows 7? Or does it not work like that? I'm not keen to go through all the process of replacing all my software again and struggle to get drivers. Thanks in advance.

So far I haven't found any software that hasn't worked with W7 build 7100.

Some motherboard drivers it installs itself that Vista couldn't do.

There's a small application that you can download from Microsoft that tests your system, which should tell you if your programs and hardware etc will be compatible with Windows 7

the only type of software likely to run into problems (until they're updated) are security tools, like AV and firewalls
