Everyones might already got a hand of new Windows 7 RTM build 7600 but what do you think of it ?

I think Windows 7 RTM is lots quicker than Vista and XP. But, the hardware drivers need to be updated soon. The USB2.0 flash memory still below par performance which Microsoft haven't got it fixed at all. Everything elses is fine and even much better. I shall look forward to next one, the Windows 8 probably in 2010 beta testing.

I rated Windows 7 RTM 8 out of 10 compare to Vista 5 out of 10 and XP 7 out of 10.

Its been out for 2 weeks ;)
Same as 7100 a very good OS...Roll on Windows 8 or Copenhagen will do me.

are you on crack? xp better than vista? :D

btw, i get faster transfers to my mp3 player in windows 7 RC so i'm quite happy with usb performance.

Microsoft have done their part, it feels like a solid release-worthy operating system. The ball's definitely in the manufacturers and developers court now.

so far im pretty peeved with it, i've been using it 20minutes and for some reason i now cannot open firefox or IE32bit, it just won't work at all and i don't know why

IE64bit is the only one opening, is there also a bug with the start menu? it's set to show xx amount of recently opened programs but it always leaves the bottom area blank for me

Ah it appears it's something to do with the audio driver for my Asus Xonar DX (beta drivers only thing available for win7), if i close HsMgr.exe they both open fine,

/comparethemarket mode on
interestings!
/comparethemarket mode off

EDIT: that's lucky, theres a small patch on the Asus forums which they didn't include on the beta driver page, ah well all fixed there :)

quite happy with win 7 ...ive installed the 64bit version and it seems fairly snappy.
im not sure if its as fast as xp in fps but i dont even mind taking a 10% hit tbh aslong as the responsiveness is there.
i used to force myself to use vista 32just for the sake of trying to move forwards(yes i was advised to use vista64 so maybe its my own fault) but spent less and less time on it as it just didnt do things as quick as xp could for me...and this is on 2 different(failry upto date) systems of mine and im honestly not trying to just slate vista.
but with win 7 its like vista with the responsiveness of xp (ok maybe not quite as sharp) and hopefully things will get even better....now i may end up hating it and finding so many problems down the line but so far im very pleased with it.

Installed chipset drivers?

I am really like it at the moment, the only thing I couldn't get to work was my coporate version of symantec endpoint but am running the free microsoft security essentials for now without issue.
Few good/bad things:

  • msn wont minimise to system tray unless you run it in vista compatibility mode

  • superbar I can't get used to but easy enough to default it back

  • no 'proper' internet explorer icon on the desktop (the vista reg trick doesn't work in 7)

  • Picked up all my drivers, bar graphics and fingerprint reader on my dell xps 1530 so definite plus there
  • Startup and shutdown times are really quick
  • overal responsive seems fantastic
TBH I am quite impressed considering most companies really have until october to get their drivers/software properly updated

Coming from Vista x64 I'm liking it so far :)

Same here, much snappier and more stable than my vista x64 install.

I was running RC from day 1, got RTM from msdn and installed and configured/installed all programs within a couple of hours. No problems at all.

Im confused, whats so good about windows 7? I just watched the "Whats new in windows 7 tour" and so far ive discovered:

-Windows 7 allows me to use a search bar to find things
-Windows 7 lets me pause and rewind recored TV
-Windows 7 comes with IE
-Windows 7 lets me change the background and get this, i can even have a slide show of my pictures because that wasn't in windows 95
-Windows 7 lets me control how much i can play games

Im sorry but windows need to shoot their advertising people. Can someone actually explain whats new in windows 7? or is it just vista again because i already have vista and see no reason to upgrade to vista again.

Quite frankly when they use IE 8 as a reason to get an OS they are scraping the barrel.

I kid you not there was not a single thing in their 4 advertizing videos that was not in vista already.

:EDIT:

No i tell a lie, i discovered i can rather annoyingly have an option that make my windows snap into place which if i cant turn off would drive me insain.
