Windows 7 slower than XP ?

No.

Some games are faster in 7, some games are faster in XP.

I suppose it depends on the game in question
Of the games I play only ONE was faster on win7 than Xp , it was DCS black shark
EVERY other game I tried ran better under Xp , I suppose its best to test each one out on both OS's and see which is faster.
For me it was 1 out of 7 was better under win7 , so I mainly use Xp for gaming
How many of your games benched better under win 7 ?

Why do people assume a newer OS will be faster than an old os?
It should be slower, it's built with newer hardware in mind. XP was built with 9 year old technology in mind.

It will probably get a little quicker with the Service Packs and run better but that's about it

This basicly.

XP will be quicker most likely, but the speed difference between XP > 7 isn't anywhere near as noticeable as between XP and Vista.

I find Vista and Win7 faster then XP for general use,Win7 is slightly snappier then Vista and low spec PCs you can see the difference with Win7,gaming wise about the same however.

waynio did you check to see if Win7 would play your media before installing that codec? reason I ask is it can play some of my rather obscure digital camera movie files without any problems - something XP and Vista would have a fit over. They're .MTS files by the way.

I would say yes it supports much more formats than ever before, but yes there were a few formats it did not support mkv's ogm's being 2 of them, but with the cccp and media player classic home thertre 64 bit everythings okey dokey now :).

I can see myself staying on win 7, something I could not with vista from release day, vista only got good for me after sp1 and by sp2 it was pretty much perfect with performance tweaks.

What ms did right this time was have massive open beta's and rc's that many people took part in and I would say it has really paid off for ms, I would recomend win 7 to anyone, even xp was a sham on day 1 but win 7 seems perfect from day 1.

I was surprised it did not come with windows mail though, I had to install win live to get windows live mail, but I quite like it to be honest, even has built in spell checker and smilies and probably a lot more features that I don't know about yet.

Slow loading games?

Hunt down a Commodore 64 or Spectrum 48k and watch a tape player for an hour before it hangs and you start again.

Kids today tsk tsk.

hehehe tell me about it :D.
