Turned on my pretty much brand new computer tonight and the thing got stuck on the 'starting windows' screen which got me panicking.

I then thought about what had changed between the last time it booted and now and the only thing was ny external hdd. I unplugged the usb and straight away the computer booted.

But this means i cant keep the ehdd plugged in 24/7 which i would prefer rather than mess with cables everytime i want it.

Anyone know how i would resolve this issue?

Thanks

In addition to the above it might be a driver issue. Does the external drive have any annoying software it tries to run when you plug it in?

Nope no annoying software as far as i am aware, you just get the autorun box popping up asking if you want to view the files.

Thanks Vash, i'll give them a bash, hopefully that sorts it.
