Windows 7 switching out of applications

I've just built a new machine with windows 7 64 bit but am having trouble whereby it is coming out applications and I have to click on them in the taskbar if it's a game or just click in the middle of the screen if it's a browser.

In the case of the browsers I can actually see when the bar at the top of the screen greys out to show that I'm not actually in that window.

Is there anything that windows 7 runs in the background that could be causing this?

Are you using Comodo Internet Security at all?, the updater used to grab focus like crazy for me.

Well I've uninstalled comodo and it's still happening so something else must be doing it.

Fingers crossed but I think I've got to the bottom of it, my usb wifi device gives me an option of minimizing to tray or closing. I thought that closing it would stop the wifi so I've been minimizing it, anyway closing it has stopped the problem and doesn't seem to affect the wifi working.

Now do I re-install comodo or use microsoft security essentials?

use both; one's an antimalware program, the other can be just a firewall (exact setup i'm using, and no issues).

Uninstall the software for the wifi dongle, find a 'driver only' solution

What I do is download the WLAN pack for this.

http://driverpacks.net/driverpacks/latest

Then extract it to say C:\Drivers\WLAN\ and point Device Manager's update driver dialogue at that folder, it'll find the drivers it needs. With no horrible 3rd party junk

Don't install Comodo, it's a virus effectively.

Use MSE, if you really must, and Windows Firewall.
