Windows 7 taking long to display folder contents!

Hi,

I've recently done a fresh install of Windows 7 64Bit (Ultimate), but find that it sometimes takes soooo long to display the contents of a simple folder (you can see the green loading bar at the top taking it's time as well), whereas Win XP (64bit) will display the contents immediately :(

Is there any way I can fix this?

Sorry if this has been asked before elsewhere here but I wasn't too sure what to search for.

Any help would be great.

Thanks all. I'll try and defrag, I haven't in ages :p I'll also give it some time and see how it progresses, otherwise I'll bump this post ;)

Seems a bit better now, however if I try and save an image from the internet via Chrome, it still hangs for a few seconds. This doesn't happen all the time though.

Thanks, I'll look into my anti-virus and also check the drives, not that they are that old, but then again I've had duds fresh out the box as well.

Though XP never had any of these problems, so I'm wondering if it could possibly be the indexing?
