As title, the time keeps going out of sync every few hours, it will go back 30 mins or so and its seriously annoying. i have to manually update the time to get it back right and it does it whether i have it to automatically sync up with servers or not...

what the hell is up with it? i started noticing one day when i was having a few crashes and was having to switch off my comp without shutting down, turned it back on and it went all the way back to the year 2001 . ever since then the time has been going nuts..?

I would look in the BIOS to see if the time is playing up there also. The time/date is backed up by the CMOS battery so this could be the source of your problem. Worth a look sure as if the BIOS doesn't have the correct time/date then the o/s usually won't either.

hmm well i checked the time earlier today in the bios and the time was indeed wrong so ive changed it... been out of the house most of the day and it currently reads 19:10 , so its magically gone back 3 hours :/

whats happens if i take the battery out and replace it, will i lose my bios settings or anything like that?

You'll lose the saved BIOS settings, but not the BIOS itself, as that's stored in an EPROM. You'll just need to go through the BIOS setup process once the battery has been replaced.

To get your system to keep better time, right-click the Taskbar clock and choose ‘Adjust date/time’. Click Change settings on the Internet time tab. Erase what’s in the Server field; then enter pool.ntp.org. Click ‘Update now’ and, after a few seconds, the clock should sync. Click Ok twice and your PC should be a better time keeper.

Just read this on another site, maybe worth a look if you have any more problems.

Once your machine is switched off it's stupid and depends on a CMOS battery to keep it's settings... Should it be the time, date or Overclock profile. The thing always to check... is the hardware working proplerly?? Years of experience have taught me this. If your Hardware ain't working right, then you can be sure the software ain't gonna work right either. Always start to troubleshoot from the lowest level and work your way up.
