Im just wondering if I should enable the Windows firewall or would I be OK without it?
Well, if I was you I probably would look at upgrading to either Windows 8 or 10 instead.
Windows 7 End of Support Life Date 14th January 2020
Why wouldn't you want the firewall enabled?
If don't like Windows firewall use zone alarm free one or similar
I'd enable the Windows firewall - never really causes any issues and if it does usually very easy to fix and you definitely don't want to be running online with nothing at all in that regard even if behind router NAT.
To be fair you you should look into upgrading to 10 if your hardware supports it.
First yes of course you should enable the firewall as you should enable all updates for security.
Secondly yes you should consider upgrading as win7 is dead as of... er now.
You really really dont want to be running around the internet with only basic or... no protection and a browser as old and crap as that found in early versions of win 7. You just dont although it could be worse and you could have what i found on an epos till last week - XP embedded, no updates, practically no virus checking and the only thing keeping the monsters at bay is a vlan with limited external access....
