Windows 7 upgrade help

Hi, im looking to upgrade from windows xp pro 32 bit, to windows 7 64 bit.

and was wondering if you guys could answer a few questions please, they are the following:

Will it be compatible with my system which is:
Gigabyte P35-S3G Mobo
Nvidia BFG Geforce 8800GT OC Edition
4gigs ram @ 800Mhz
Intel Dual Core E2180 @ 2Ghz
150 Gig Hdd

Second Question is, is 64 Bit better than 32 Bit as i play a lot of games and do a lot of multi media related work.

Third Question is which windows 7 should i get? Home premium, professional or ultimate as i don't really wanna spend too much money.

And lastly is there a big difference performance wise between windows 7 64 bit and Windows xp pro 32 bit.

1) can't see why not
2) yes as 32bit won't recognize all of the ram
3) I got home prem as I looked on ms site at differences and it seemed pointless wasting money on ultimate

It would be unusual to have a problem.

The short answer is yes, it is better.

Home Premium should be fine for your needs.

And lastly is there a big difference performance wise between windows 7 64 bit and Windows xp pro 32 bit.

You probably won't notice a huge leap in performance (although going 64 bit could make some improvements to your encode times) but you'll have an OS which is much more appropriate for your hardware.

No more 32bit os NEVER! (most polite way to say make the jump and make it now, w7 is miles better than xp and 64bit is just that little bit even more worth it)

I doubt if Windows 8 will even be available in 32bit anymore than XP is in 8 or 16 bit. 32 is just for them as can't use 64
