A silly question probably but something I need clearing up as the misses is going to order this for me off OCUK.

I have Windows Vista Home Premium 32BIT on my laptop - now I believe that key used on that install also holds weight for a 64BIT install?

What I want to do is upgrade to Windows 7 64BIT.... so my question is, which product do I buy from this page: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist.php?groupid=33 - I just want the home premium upgrade.

I presume a full format is required to get this installed?

Thanks,

AFAIK if the key works for 64bit (which it should) then you just need to get hold of a 64bit disk, no need to purchase anything.

What they will give me Windows 7 for free?

I thought id have to purchase that even though ive got Vista?

Now im confused!

If you were moving from 32bit Vista to 64bit Vista then you would only need media as the product key is interchangeable between the two (although only one can be in use at a time).

You will buy a Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade 64bit and will have to perform a clean install as you are moving from 32bit to 64bit.

Best ot start the install from within Vista and choose Custom.

Can't find an upgrade for Windows 7 on the store so I'd go for this: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=SW-127-MS&groupid=33&catid=1555&subcat=

Good thing about this is that you won't have any activtion worries as some have had.

You can backup your stuff, boot from the DVD and install.
