Does anyone know how to combat this problem? I have re installed win 7 64bit oem edition on my computer. I then get to the stage where i need to create a username & password for the login screen of win7. But when i finally login it keeps telling me i am entering the wrong pass & username where i definitely am not. I have reinstalled it on several occasions thinking i have been making a error somewhere down the line but im not. Any ideas what is causing the problem & how to resolve it?

Many thanks in advanced!!!

when you install just dont put in a password and then it will automatically load to the desktop, unless you require it to be password protected.

as for whats causing the problem, either caps were used or something in the install has gone bad, but on several installs wouldnt of thought that would be the case.

Not trying to offend you or make you look somehow-dim, but if it says you are entering the wrong username/password, then you are. It's not a game that tries to deceive you, it's there to help you...

sometimes the file can get corrupt so even if you are entering it correctly it will give the same error. although on several installs i wouldnt of said this is the case.

Im afraid your wrong there, i reinstalled win 7 three times and entered the same username & pass a ridiculous quantity or times in both normal & caps with still no avail.

And more than merely user error!

also bare in mind M$ would have only written one or two error messages for failure to log in, so just because it says something doesnt mean its right.

As the password field is masked when typing into it, its hard to determine what you are typing is what is actually being inserted.

The trick I use in work, is ask the user to type their password into the username field so what they are typing is what is being shown on the screen. I've been caught out by this several times, usually when hashes or pound signs are used in a password (different positions depending on the keyboard mapping).

I totally agree i thought the same but i simplified my password to world not in caps. And a password a simple as that is fairly difficult in my opinion to mistakingly type in after many attempts.

I have heard that changing the settings in the bios to default and rectify this but i haven't tried it as of yet!

When I installed x64 it wouldn't let me put a username and password during install. I just installed anywhay and set them afterwards. Strange, but have not had a problems. Might be an issue with some media, I got my 7 x64 from a launch event.

I assume you did a full /F disk when you reinstalled windows 7? It does seem a abit strange that, all I would do is not put a password in during setup and see if you can get in that way. That way you can hopefully add it once its logged in properly for the first time.

I did try to format the disk but for some reason it just doesn't do anything the system almost halts when i click on format. I will give that a try and not enter a password as everytime i have done it i have put one in
