Windows 7

i just wish there was a way to choose between the 9400M and 9600M in Windows so the laptop would run cooler (maybe snow leopard will have it?)

Do I need to download any specific drivers or is everything on the original discs ok for Windows 7?

Did you follow any guides or tutorials? Some of those at the top of Google refer to older Macbooks.

follow this guide http://www.simplehelp.net/2009/01/1...ndows-7-on-your-mac-the-complete-walkthrough/ was pretty straight forward for me and you need use the Mac DVD to install the drivers.

The temps do get hot as its using the 9600M and the fans were at default speed (2000 rpm) so cpu went to around 60C and GPU 65C (in OSX temps were around 40C), the way to lower the temps is to install smcfancontrol in Mac OSX then set the fan speeds to around 3500RPM (set higher if your going to play games) and then restart the laptop and in the boot options launch Windows, even though you restarted the laptop the fans speed will still be running at 3500rpm so when your in windows temps will be much lower.

good luck.

i think with the MBP its a relatively simple procedure as its properly supported for x64, the iMac is a different kettle of fish i've found out :( (i've actually given up now i just can't get any graphics or audio drivers that work and i'm too stubborn to put the 32 bit version on and loose some of my ram usage...)

AFAIK everything you need is on the os x discs when it comes to the MBP and Mac Pro...
