As tittle when i boot up from cold, i get a plain light blue screen when i should be prompted for username and password. I then have to reset the PC and then i see the prompt for username and password.

anyone else had this issue with windows 8.1?

how often does it happen, is it every boot?

what are you using for the OS, is it a SSD or HDD?

if its a SSD make sure the firmware is up to date on it and also might be worth checking the bios as well for any updates.

when in windows 8.1 you can check the OS files to make sure they are not corrupt. open command prompt as admin and type the following

sfc /scannow

if there is any OS issues it will try to repair, if there is any corrupt and it cant fix them it will tell you

Well I tried turning off fast boot in the power settings as I saw another suggestion from someone else that had the exact same issue and hey presto it worked when I switched on my machine this morning from cold boot not light blue screen on login screen.

I'll try your suggestion with seeing if there is anything that needs repairing ☺️
