Windows 8.1 Build GPU Crashing

Just built a PC for my brother

OS is windows 8.1 (via disk install)

All is working fine during normal use, however any time he tries to play a game he gets a blue screen, that sometimes is readable, sometimes not.

Tested the CPU & memory for errors, all seems ok.

GPU has latest drivers, all windows updates installed

Errors so far:

system_service_exception
memory_management

i think there was an irq_not_equal_to as well

are there any known fixes for 8.1 and graphics cards or am i just waiting for MS and Ati to sort themselves out?

Will a fresh install help?

Cheers for reading of my woes :-)

thank you for pointing out my stupidity

he said he didn't want to oc any of his stuff so i just auto'ed it all in the bios and thought nothing of it - as you pointed out the bios decided to tighten up the memory timings beyond what the memory could do and that was the cause of my problem.

weird that it managed to hit a 'sweet spot' where it never crashed in windows but would fall over playing even the simplest game.

thanks again :)
