Windows 8.1 ISO?

Hi,

I want to clean install Windows 8 Pro x64 this weekend as getting a new Samsung Evo SSD. I have the Windows 8 Pro x64 RTM (UK English) disc.

Is there a new ISO for 8.1 now? I recall reading about one somewhere a few weeks ago. If there is one, will it activate with my existing key? If not, I guess I'll just have to install from my RTM disc and let it do all the updating.

I did it at the weekend, installed Windows 8, got it to install the 8.1 upgrade. Pretty easy TBH.

Wish I could have gone straight to 8.1 though, would have saved a lot of hassle. Only had to reinstall after putting media centre on with my legit code and Windows deciding 5 days later it wasn't valid any more!

I seem to remember reading if you have a 8.0 key you need to install 8.0 then upgrade to 8.1, as an 8.0 key will not activate a 8.1 install

Not true. You can use a place holder key to install.

It's even easier to do this.

Doesn't even ask for a key on install and then you just activate using your Windows 8 key.

I had a Windows 8 VLK install.

A friend has a genuine Windows 8 Pro key that he didn't want (he prefers Windows 7), so offered it to me.

I upgraded my Windows 8 VLK over to Windows 8.1 Pro, but his genuine key didn't work and neither did my VL key either.

Baffled by that.
