Googled myself to the end and cannot find a solution to the fact that some of my computers see my NAS on the network, and others do not??

They are running fully updated windows 8.1, have set all the settings I can find set the same, just some wont see the NAS, or some of the other computers, it feels random.

Is there something hidden I may be missing, a trick or anything that may resolve the issue?

Are they all in the same work group? I had the issue many moons ago where the laptop wouldn't see the computer till it was added (this was back with dialup so could easily have changed).

thanks all, laptops seem to see it but tablet doesnt (windows 8 tablet). i can view the NAS through the tablet by a web page by typing in the LAN ip.
other laptops see it but one doesnt,NAS is on MSHOME but cant see where in windows 8 to see the workgroup name?

Why is this a problem OP? Surely if you are using the NAS then it's not going anywhere and it would be easier to map it as a drive rather than searching through the network every time you want to access it?

Open 'File Explorer' and right click 'Computer' or 'My Computer' and choose 'properties' or in Windows 8, right click the start menu and choose System. Then choose 'Advanced system settings' > 'Computer Name' tab. Here you can confirm what name is set for the WorkGroup name and change if necessary so that all PC's share the same WorkGroup name.
