Windows 8.1 slow to search from windows key

Hi Guys

I have a new laptop for work, loving 8.1 but the search function is horribly slow

A guy I work along side has an older spec laptop and his is instant as you start typing the search?

Is there anything I can turn on/off to speed things up, I've searched online but can't find an answer

Dont suppose turning on search indexing would help? (or even if it is turned off).

Tweak your indexing locations

Better still (takes ages to do it) tweak your indexing filetypes. Can't believe MS haven't implemented a quick way to do it.

Indexing Options


Advanced, Filetype (untick the ones you don't want, takes AGES)

Then go back to the main screen and click Modify.
From here you can pick which folders you want indexing. I'd reccomend keeping Start menu
