I've been trying to set my brothers laptop to auto log in the user account without password using control userpasswords via command prompt but i'm having problems.

I supposed to get this screen below

But i get this screen below and can't change the to auto login

I've hidden my bros email on this picture

I had no problem setting this on my laptop but not my brothers, anyone know why this is happening.

I imagine it's because the first picture is using Local Accounts for authentication but the second is using Microsoft Accounts (which is why the usernames are email addresses).

It would be daft of MS to allow you to log into a personal Microsoft account automatically without authentication. Given that it would allow someone full access to a persons Skydrive, Email, Contacts and Store purchasing without requiring a password.

I expect if you changed to using Local Accounts then you'll be able to use Auto-Login again. This will mean though that you will need to authenticate to use the Microsoft services.

I've always just run it from the Run command

control userpasswords2

Then untick the box and off you go.

Last week, I updated my Windows 8 to 8.1, and then met the password forgotten problem. I opted for Windows Password Recovery Tool 3.0 to help me remove login password and login laptop again!
