Hello everyone,

This week I received my Windows 8-copy. I installed it right away, and, as expected, audio wasn't working, as it wasn't when I had just installed Windows 7. I installed the drivers, that I got on a DVD in the same box as my motherboard (GigaByte GA-Z77X-D3H). When I tried to run this DVD, I got an error, telling me that the DVD does not work on this Windowsversion. So I ran it with the troubleshoot compatibility, that autoran it as Windows XP Service Pack 3. It worked, I installed all options and sound was working. I did some other things later that day, I downloaded Medal of Honor Warfighter with Origin for example, and Borderlands with Steam as well. The next day, I found out that sound wasn't working anymore :S I tried to download the audio drivers via internet, but they all noticed that there was no working audio device. So I fragmented my HDD, reinstalled Windows 8 and tried the DVD again, this time with no result. After this I tried downloading the drivers from http://uk.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4144#dl for Windows 8 64-bits version, they all didn't help.
So my problem is: audio isn't working :(
My PC:
CPU: Intel i5 3570K
GPU: MSI R7950 Twin Frozr
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H rev 1.0
PSU: Corsair HX 650W
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 2 x 4 GB 1600 MHz

Thanks in advance!

Rik

Have you checkded in the bios that the OB audio is showing as enabled?
In your sound control panel device list, right click and you should be able to show hidden/disabled/disconnected devices.

I just did, and yes, the Audio device controler is enabled.
When I go to the sound control panel device list, I find my Speakers, they're checked and set to default device. Whenever I have sound playing, I can see that the device should be working, since the volume bar is showing in green that it's working. So, the device is outputing audio.

Have you ruled out the speakers by plugging in alt speakers/headphones?
checked output also? Not set to optical or anythign by mistake?

I must have plugged my microphone in the wrong place, it was set as headphone instead of microphone. Audio is working now, thanks for the help :)
