Hi

Ive just ordered a second screen which ill be using with Windows 8

Now i think ive read that Win 8 has better improvements over 7 when using 2 screens?

Will i still need to use UltraMon, or is that not needed now with Windows 8?

I used to use Ultramon with XP

I don't bother in W7/W8

Can't remember if you could do this in W7 or not...

WINKEY + Left = tiles to the left of the screen
WINKEY + Shift + Left = Jumps to the left screen

^Same goes for 'Right'

WINKEY + Up = Maximise on current screen

I've not looked into the settings, but it does seem lacking compared to Ultramon, ie Always open on screen X doesn't seem to be a built in feature.

Works just fine for me. Different sized monitors too which can sometimes cause problems, but not on Win 8 :)

With Windows 8 you no longer need 3rd party software in order to have a separate taskbar on each monitor, as the functionality is built in.

Thanks for the reply's everyone, the screen is only 21.5 my main screen is 24inch.

Having a taskbar on each screen is what i would like

If thats all you need then right click the Taskbar, under the Taskbar tab, half way down check "Show taskbar on all displays" then set how you want to display the buttons, i personally go with "Taskbar where window is open" and "Always combine, hide labels"

Thanks for the info, ill try this tomorrow when the screen arrives

So

Ive added the second screen, after having a faulty DVI lead, i now have a decent picture, but i have a small problem.

To get the mouse cursor to the second screen i have to go to the opposite side of screen?

For example my main screen U2410 is on the right side of where i sit, and the second screen is on the left.

So ideally i would like to move the cursor to my left to get to the second screen, but i have to move the cursor to the right instead?

Hope someone understands what i mean lol

Go to your Screen Res settings and there will be Monitors 1 and 2, drag one of them to the other side of the other monitor and apply!! :)
