I didn't state that it was Microsoft's problem, I stated it as a fail, regardless of who is responsible for driver support.
Btw still no issues for me in Win8 gaming and still happy I ditched Creative for my nice Asus Xonar DX card a year ago ,it just works
Reply, some persons assume I am blaming Microsoft, not true 100%, but they are partially responsible, afterall they have keep releasiing operatings systems that gamers have to buy to enjoy the latest fidelity graphics, for example DX 10 and DX11. And no I do not want to game on a console (just in case).
You must have different hearing to me, but when I game in Battlefield 3, after purchasing both the DG and Dx from Asus, I found them tinny (gunfire and explosions) with my Roccat Kave headphones, and the directional positional vague and off, whereas my "Creative" cards have all been pretty spot on with both Battlefield 3 and Battlefield BC 2...The Asus cards did sound good for music, but gaming not as good.
Call of Duty 4
Currently my most played game and despite a lack of EAX I was intrigued to see how this would fair against the on-board sound I was currently using. It took some time to configure exactly how I liked the sound as when I first started playing the game I was appalled at the quality – I then realised my mistake (I hadn’t enabled the game setting in the Xonar Audio Control) but once rectified and I had it how I preferred, I was impressed with the clarity of the vocals and weapon sounds. I found myself testing out new weapons just to see what they sounded like on this card!
BF2 is an EAX 3.0 enabled game which sure enough, once the GX and game settings were chosen in the Xonar Audio Center, I could set the Audio functions to ‘Creative X-FI’(which gave me a giggle) and High settings (ultra is also available through config settings):
The EAX effects were clear and no crackling and popping could be heard which has been reported occasionally with Creative’s own X-FI based cards. Positional audio was sublime and no doubt would give the players a competitive edge in this game with a 7.1 card. I had played this game previously with an extreme music X-FI card and honestly cannot tell the difference between the two cards audio qualities. At a push, I would say the Xonar had the edge in terms of reverb effects such as those on Kubra Dam.

Yep sound is subjective, however reviewers like myself think its great (taken from Overclock3d review)[
Again this is your point of view, like I have mine, because I have seen numerous reviews (from professionals) that give the OS (Windows 8) an average rating of around 3-4 stars out of five, gaming performance in Windows 8 invariably similar or identical to Windows 7.
Here was an amusing poll video from 3DGameman, a gentleman who has had numerous years as a reviewer and is well respected for his views.

Windows 8.1 anyone ?
No, I don't miss the "precious" start menu, I miss having a decent desktop...and not the "app" version that feels plugged in underneath the Start screen.
Reply. No it feels like a dumbed down operating system, another layer of gunk over a workmanlike system like Windows 7 and the previous iterations, just so Microsoft can cash in on the tablet market.

People bashing Windows 8, not allowed then?
I have stated e before, that I await improvements to Windows 8 before I revisit it. I had a similar experience (granted worse) when Vista came out. Windows 8 remains a sideshow to me, a gimmick like Aero was in Vista.
As far as my small limited mind can tell, it is a touchscreen os, with a Windows app that looks suspiciously like Windows 7 without the Start menu and neat gadgets.
Like any compllex bit of software, Windows 8 may present issues, or none at all, depending on the unique set-up an individual has depending on hardware and other numerous factors.
I am just amazed that people find having a point of view opposite to their own stemming from my own truthful experience with this new software as wrong. For example my sound card failed to work, so I should pull it out and get an Asus one because it is made by a company they do not like.I did address this issue. I got a Soundblaster Z card, because I had the upgrade itch, not because of Windows 8.
s a Windows user, the new OS feels more clautraphobic then ever, if I want games, well I should buy them from the Windows store...if I want friends well, I can sign into Windows live...This is where people will jump in with, "well you don't have to use those services". But this paragraph shows my impression of wonderful Windows 8..
Maybe they will get the right idea by Windows 9. Right now my games do not get on with Windows 8, others may have no issues.
Finally, if Windows 8 was to be embraced so wholeheartedly by the buying public, why would Microsoft offer it as cheaply as £14.99 an unprecendented move by one of the most profitable comanies in the world, unless they were also concerned by customers opinion and felt cheap offers was a guarantee that market share was maintained and their shareholders could then be informed of healthy sales figures, for shiny Windows 8.
P.s I await the quote bubbles etc.

all my games work better, games that I had trouble with in win7 like CS:Global (it wouldn't run) now work.
