So I'm trying to install windows 8 on a new sata drive with no OS, all goes well up to the point it reboots after initial install bit then the machine just reboots to a flashing screen with a cursor nothing else.

I downloaded it from MS and have tried yo DVDs from the Iso....is it likely the Iso is duff?

I am out of ideas.

So I tried my Windows 7 disk and the same thing happened with that.

Is there something special I should be doing with the SATA drive? I've wiped it and formatted it.

This is a dumb question but I guess I shouldn't interrupt the re-boot and select boot from CD during the install process? It should do this automatically?

I did the cheap upgrade the other day. Downloaded the ISO and when prompted, installed the ISO to a USB drive, which windows does for you.. Restart PC and installed. When it came to the reboot, I was then prompted to remove the USB drive. Job done.

Should`nt make any difference.
I had the Win 8 developer version on a 64GB ssd and just did a format and deleted it. Then installed Win 8. Cheapest OS I have ever bought.
