Windows 8 problems.

So I built my system 2 years ago and used win7 since with no problems. I recently updated to win8 and have been having difficulties. First weekend I had to re-install win7 and erase everything on my hard drive due to issues with it.

I changed the IDE/SATA settings like an idiot and can't remember what it was defaulted to, when I boot up it gives me a message after the bios screen on either which it never did before. Can I reset my mobo to factory settings somehow?

Anyway, current problem is I removed some RAM (not needed and selling), moved my gfx card to the PCIEX16 slot and installed a new wireless card in the PCIEX4 slot. It was working fine until it reset to complete installation and then on reboot said it encountered problems. It gave me a message 'irql_not_less_or_equal' and tried to restore the system but takes for ever, I ended up just turning it off.

Any ideas what the problem could be? I read it might be a RAM problem but I have switched and changed with no effect. Cheers

irql_not_less_or_equal normally relates to a faulty driver and not a RAM problem.

Cheers. I just re-installed win8 and updated all drivers and now seems to be working. Unfortunately as I downloaded 8 I had to re-install 7 first but now have made a repair disc and turned on restore points so should I have the problem again I can fix quickly.
