Windows 8 SSD boot time

yeah, i know that - just in comparison to when i installed windows 7 with no apps it's still a lot faster
oh and it installed in under 10 mins (no waiting for ages on "expanding features")

they still have a lot of new programs/ UI changes to make so we may see an even faster boot time if they lighten it up a bit. (imagine the speeds on the vertex 3 :D)

i remember when it took over an hour to install windows xp :P

Where did you get 8 from? :)

& That vid is really why I should have got an SSD, instead of a new phone, so I don't have to wait for the bloody thing :p

Also, i just remembered the hybrid boot feature, which is supposed to resuce startup times. - this is WITHOUT it enabled.

i removed it from my ssd as it messed up my win 7 installation (i managed to recover it usin the windows 7 installation disk and an IDE HDD :P) so i cant test the speed with it enabled on my SSD :(

That's pretty impressive. Windows for me has always been about a product for the masses that works out of the box. Win Vista/7 were pretty decent but still fairly slow. If 8 (is this 8 or was that a typo?) is that fast that's impressive.

Well, i think plenty of people would'nt say vista was decent :P, and windows 7 works more out of the box than any windows OS so far but is fairly fast and a lot faster than vista, but yeah it is Windows 8 and it is impressive! you just ned to get yourself an SSD and see the incredible speed gain over a mechanical drive :D

Well, i think plenty of people would'nt say vista was decent :P,

Windows Vista was decent. ;)

Anyway, nice boot time and it will be good to see how they've gone about doing it. However a faster boot time is way down on my list of things to improve over Windows 7 since I use standby/hibernate 95% of the time anyway.

In before the lock...
I doubt this will be locked.
Nice! How did you get windows 8?
you can't get it legally at this time.
That is fast. I want one. I never even new Win 8 was coming so soon.
Since the XP-longhorn-debacle, Microsoft are attempting to return to the "OS every three years" model.

Seeing as 7 came out in 2009, i'm fairly Confident that Windows 8 will arrive at it's scheduled time in 2012.

Why do people care about boot time? My HTPC, my office PC, my general PC, my laptop... none of them get rebooted more than once a month. Sleep and hibernate work so well now, it's simply better not to reboot.
