Windows 8 Upgrade Question

Hello,

I would like to do the cheap upgrade, but not Install Windows 8 right away.

Is that viable or once its been bought am I then forced to install it straight away?

If you download the upgrade assistant you can purchase the serial key, then choose to download the files which can be burned for you to install at a later time.

Just download it onto a USB stick and install it whenever you want. It is pretty easy from a stick, takes about 10 minutes tops.

Ahh right, so It will just sit on my desktop until I'm ready to run it / burn to disk to use it.

With the Key I guess sitting in my emails?

Yeah key is by email. When you download it, it gives you the option of where to put it.

Awesome, I think i may have stumbled into a problem though.

The site says its only for PC's from June 2012.

I take it I cant just upgrade my version of Windows 7 Ultimate I've had for a couple of years now?

Actually, I see I can do it with any version now but looks like I cant get the free version of Windows Media Center as the key has to be activated by the 31st of January. Bugger!

My Win7 retail is a couple of years old and it worked fine. I also know that it is allowing upgrades from cracked Win7 copies as well. This is according to others anyway.

It is also allowing upgrades from now non genuine windows XP installs which I've done on one computer.
