Hi All i,m sure this has been asked on here , but i,ve been reading on the net about Windows 8 due the end of Oct , but i,m a little confused about the different versions , am i right in saying they have done away with a full installed version , where you have to format your hard drive ? as all i have seen is an upgrade version mentioned if you have Windows 7 installed on your system , anyone help explain thanks :)

Windows Media Center functionality will be available only for Windows 8 Pro, as a free "add-on

You got to have windows 8 pro to get Windows Media Center.....:(

That crazy as most people who build HTPC's try build them as cheap as possible and will not want spend out loads on a pro version of windows..

Do we know if that includes the extender to link up to the xbox? That would totally halt my plans.

All the promotions seem to relate Pro only e.g. £14.99 for new PCs and £25 for upgrades.

WMC will be free until the end of January and is almost identical to the Win7 version.
