Windows 98 SE keyboard issue

I wasn’t sure if I should post this in retro gaming or here but will ask away.

My Win98 SE Dell laptop beeps when pressing multiple keys e.g. space bar and cursor up at the same time. It also causes a very small stutter when it beeps. Highly annoying when trying to play certain games.
Connecting a controller sorts this but not all games are playable on joypad/joystick.

As far as I can tell Win 98 has no sticky keys options or accessibility options. When i press left shift (or right shift) 5 times in a row, no options appear.

Does anyone have any clues how to disable this? It’s a Dell Inspiron 8100

what interface are you using? PS2? USB? Serial?
iirc beeps like that are when the controller doesn't know what to do because it has too many inputs for the BUS to handle?

It's a limitation of the keyboard, search for information about n-key rollover and you'll probably have to use an external keyboard that supports it.

Common issue with certain keyboards. If it's for gaming, try rebinding the keys as it is usually specific combinations of keypresses that cause a conflict.
