Why do i have a Windows.old file? i've never noticed it before today.

Its 10.4gb and the windows folder is 478mb - i've changed neither, but i know 478mb is too small for windows vista... yet have no idea why the folders are seperate, they havent always been like that

It's the remains of you old OS when you install Vista on a hard drive that had a previous version of Windows on. You can safely delete it but you may not be able to just delete it because Windows won't let you. I think you can delete it in Safe Mode as an Administrator or in Windows from an elevated command prompt using the 'del' command.
