Windows and wireless

I have a wireless network working between 3 desktop pcs, with the use of a D-Link router, all the equipment we use is fairly old but it works. Now i have a problem with a laptop, it can view the network we have, etc however it will not connect, everytime i try to it says there is no encryption which si true, i click to over ride but it still will not connect to said network .

I know this is an extremely general post, but if anyone has the slightest idea could they please help i'll be able to answer any questions required.

Btw the laptop is running XP home, server is running Win2k and all other pcs are running XP Pro.

is the laptop using windows or a manufactures utility to connect up? if its using one try the other and vice versa, another thing is updating drivers?

It's using windows and the manufcaturers utility doesn't work, i feel updating the drivers may be a wise course of action.
