Windows ARGG!!

ok so check the services tab in msconfig and disable anything non microsoft. Disable any devices you don't absolutely require in device manager.

I get this at work when there is a drive mapped which is slow/doesnt exist.

Have you got any memory card readers or USB hard drives anything like that?

Have you tried unplugging printers/joysticks, wireless dongles etc etc etc?

Do the problems start as soon as the machine boots into windows for the first time? Is the disk you are using customised?

Yep everytime i log it in happens :(

What do you mean by customised?

Like themes? i only use windows MCE Theme ...

Its Doing my head in :(

No no, I mean as soon as you have reinstalled windows- installed no programs or drivers etc, does the problem occur then?

By customised, I mean is it an unattended disk, nLited or anything?

So at what point do the problems occur? What piece of software / driver do you install?

EDIT: With a clean install of windows, start installing things one by one- start with chipset drivers, sound and LAN etc then Antivirus, antispyware etc then service packs and updates and see what causes it :)

i download all windows updates first
then install chipset drivers

Grapic card
then install spyware.. and anti virus..

Then i install programs like photoshop, office, ect

EDIT:- And when i restart this problem accurs :( this is the first time this has happend to me :(

That could well be your problem- you should install your antivirus and antispyware programs before connecting to the internet and then ket them update their definitions the first time you access the net.

Another thing you could try is to slipstream service pack 2 into your XP disc using nLite which may solve your problems :)

EDIT: Yeah and as skiba says- install you programs one at a time to see which one is being problematic- ie reboot in between each one

Yeah, that'll be fine :) What I mean though is when you format it be sure to install the AV before going on the internet. When you do get on the net, download the beta of Windows Defender from Microsoft as well  Good Luck!
