Windows Backup using 300 mysterious Gigabytes?

Hi there... I have windows set to automatically back-up my stuff on a weekly basis, but for some reason it is using 725 Gigabytes from my 1TB backup drive, wheras my main OS drive is only using 425.

Also, I kind of get the picture that windows backup sucks - It gives no clear indication of how to recover the data in the event of a hard-drive failure.

Is there some good software I can use? And why is Windows backup leeching storage space?

Windows 7

Also, What is the best software for creating a bootable copy of my RAID0 array?

Basically I have two 640Gb Caviar Black's in RAID0 and I want to make a complete exact copy of those onto a 1TB 7200.12, so in the event that my RAID array fails, I can just opt to boot from the 1TB drive and have everything in place.

Anybody?
I'd kind of like to reformat the backup disk and start copying tonight.

Am I correct in thinking a disk clone is a 100% copy of the original drive and is perfectly bootable etc?

Might sound stupid, where's it backing up to?

i.e. is the backup file being included in the backup?

I've seen people do this before :)

Else does windows backup have a problem with it being raided I wonder, doubt it though.

I think everytime I try to backup it's basically making a full backup AND a disk image.
I'm just going to reformat the drive anyway now.

The above questions on software and disk cloning still apply though!
