Hey guys, just bought a new HDD and trying to install windows on it, trouble is when I do I get the error message -

"Windows cannot install to this disk. The disk may fail soon. If other disks are available install Windows to another location."

When I go into BIOS it doesn't show up, although Windows install does.

What is confusing me is that this is a brand new, albeit B Grade hard drive. Not from OcUK but elsewhere.

Can anybody help or is the disk really DOA. It does have at least 90 days warrenty with the store but I rather not have to return as they don't have anymore in stock.

Disk is a Western Digital Caviar 160GB, MB is a Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H running F18.

TIA

you really want to ignore what windows is telling you? i wouldn't....

so what if they don't have more in stock. return it and get a refund.

Yes Windows is telling me the drive may fail but I was thinking that maybe there was another problem relating to the fact that the disk doesn't show up in BIOS however does in Windows on another machine and also in the Windows setup program

Have run WD's diagnostic with an extended test and I think this has confirmed FUBAR, but how Fubar is it based on these results?

lol so much for "tested and fully working". Could understand if it was from eBay but its from a reputable shop. Will be taking it back tomorrow after work
