Yep, they're going on kernel version. NT was the turning point and their numbering order goes:
Windows NT
Windows 2000 Professional
Windows 2000 Server
Windows XP
Windows Server 2003 (XP 64 bit uses the 2003 kernel)
Windows Vista (Vista SP1 and Windows Server 2008 use the 6.1 kernel).....
Windows 7
i'm counting atleast 9 versions of windows before this one
MS Dos
windows 3.1
Windows NT
windows 4.0
windows 95
windows 98
windows ME
Windows XP
Windows Vista
imagine if they use Windows 8, china will be lapping up without pirating.
i like the name, windows 7, nice, but instead of u saying "ME", or "98" or "XP", or "vista" we cant just say, yeah let me log onto "7", were gonna have to say "WINDOWS 7"
