Windows DNS

I'm just pondering about the potential deployment of Windows based DNS servers (ie non-AD application).

Any thoughts / comments on what DNS software to use? Windows own, BIND, Meta DNS Pro?

Depends on the functionality you need - Windows 03's own DNS is perfectly functional, is there any reason not to use that?

May as well just use the built in Windows 2003 DNS Server unless you want to do anything special.

Authoritative DNS for a number of domains (few hundred), then recursive lookups.

Obviously MS's own offering has no cost. Some of the features in Simple DNS sound useful.
