Windows doesn't load up at all?

This is a very weird one, I have XP32 SP2 installed and all was working fine for months on end, until today when winamp, then windows appeared to crash.

Now, whenever I reboot - (using safe mode), it runs through its bits and bobs to stop permanently on /Windows/System32/Drivers/Mup.sys

What is going on? I have no idea atm. (They should be forward slashes - but I don't think I have that character on my keyboard laptop bizarrely enough...

IIRC MUP is something to do with chosing network protocols. I would say your best bet is to either boot into safe mood and try a system restore of just repair the installation using your windows CD

recovery console and chkdsk /p first to check for errors on the drive - other than that, as J.B said.
