Windows doesnt want to install :(

Did you do a clean install with the SSD after you cleaned it? You shouldn't need to do it again, just check the memory with memtest86+ via UBCD (has a lot of other useful tools and saves wasting a CD/DVD for just one). 2 Passes is enough to rule out the memory as the problem.

Yeah I did, sorry I didn't realise the memtest86 milarky was a part of UBCD. I believe that the RAM is at a higher speed (1600) than the maximum of the mother board. I thought that it didnt make a difference and it just went to the lowest common denominator but I may be wrong. I will run memtest soon just to check the RAM is alright. Updates seem to be installing again after I used Microsoft Fix It :) I really hope it is working now. Sorry for being a computer noob you and thanks very much for the help.

Have you checked the Memory Voltage? some times the Bios does not set the Voltage correctly for the RAM (more common with 4 DIMMS rather than 2).

I have not, would I do that through memtest or the bios? It has 2 dimms but I may as well check. What voltage do I want?

In the BIOS, the package the memory came in should have the timings and voltage settings written on them. should be about 1.5V for your CPU/Motherboard combo.

Checked it and it is running at the right voltage. I currently do not have bsod errors anymore; however, windows still does not update properly, the windows performance test thing doesnt work but worst of all battlefield 3 doesnt work. I do not know what to do! :(

Didn't think the H61 chipset supported any higher than 1333MHz but I could be wrong. Did it pass Memtest86+?

Run CPU-Z and go to the memory tab, see what it is running at: http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

Yeah it passed the test twice. Yeah it is 1600 but I'm pretty sure it is supposed to run fine on h61 boards, just at a lower speed. However, CPU-z says on the memory tab it has a DRAM frequency of ~798Mhz. I gathered that this is supposed to say half of the actual speed, but that means 1600Mhz, not 1333MHz. Is this where the problem is? This board definitely does not do 1600Mhz. This software might be dodged though, on the CPU page it says the processor is called "Intel Core i5 3550" but at the specification on the same page it says the correct one (i3 3220). Im confused. Actually the bios also says 1600Mhz. Im very confused.

That all seems fine then. If it passed memtest86+ then it is very unlikely to be the memory at fault.

The incorrect CPU info is likely due to the fact your processor is a recent release and CPU-Z hasn't been updated for it yet.

Where did you source the drivers from? Might pay to download the latest versions from the Gigabyte website.

it is weird though, this board definitely does not support RAM of that frequency... I used the CD originally but Just downloaded drivers from the web, still doesnt appear to be working :(

You could clock the memory down to 1333MHz but I'm doubtful if that is the problem. What errors are you getting when you try and run things like BF3?

Just a "Battlelefield 3 has stopped working" :( This happens just after I click "Quickmatch", "Co-op" or "Campaign" on the battlelog website. It opens a little white window and after a few seconds the error comes up :( I really appreciate your help by the way.

If you go into M.I.T then Advanced Frequency settings and you should be able to just pick the speed at the bottom of the list.

While you are into BIOS there, might pay to reset the BIOS settings to Optimised Defaults F7 (on the main page you get to by pressing Del) before checking/changing the memory speed, then Save and Exit (F10).

So you've loaded optimised defaults and saved it? Is the board definitely running the latest BIOS version?

If in doubt Strip it right back and start with just the motherboard Ram CPU and basics (Keyboard mouse monitor) and see where you get from there!

What Power supply are you using and whats the Wattage rating? A full list of hardware would be a big advantage!
