what do you mean by crash ?? does it lock up or switch off ?? does it only happen when under load ie in game or can it happen anytime ?

it has froze once and just restarted a few times

what kind of thing could cause this?

It could be anything from a faulty bit of hardware, to dodgy drivers (or a simple driver incompatibility).

I would recommend memtest86 run from a floppy or CD-rom (ultimatebootdisc is good for this and other tools) to check the memory.

could it be anything like windows live messenger, havn't been on it and everything seems grand atm

i checked my event viewer > system and i seem to get these 3 errrors:

Systems Error - Category (102) - Event 1003

and

Tcpip - Event 4226

and

Dhcp Event 1007

what does this mean? been looking around the internet and seem somethings about the network adaptor being the problem, anyone any ideas? could it be my wireless card?

You can safely ignore event 4226, its XP tcp limit kicking in. Nothing that would cause the problems you're having.

More on Event 4226 here.
http://www.phex.org/mambo/content/view/49/33/

And Event 1007

Event ID 1007, Source dhcp:
"Your computer has automatically configured the IP address for the Network Card with network address 00115B6C4EF6. The IP address being used is 169.254.84.26."

Or to that degree, its just when your PC fails to get an IP from the DHCP from the modem or router.

Be careful using them patches, some AV can pick them up as viruses and they also patch your windows system files. I do myself however use one and its not caused problems, just be aware of what you're doing.

ok just got another System Error - Cat (102) - Event 1003

Error code 100000c5, parameter1 00000004, parameter2 00000002, parameter3 00000001, parameter4 805525a1.

computer just restarted can someone help me fix this asap

cheers

I had a dodgy network adapter which made my PC BSoD quite often, I removed it and all was fine. Try running the PC without the network adapter and see what happens!

ok well took out the wireless card and now just on laptop, left the desktop on. was looking through the event log of this laptop which is on the same wireless network here, and it seems to have been having the tcpip 4225 but has done nothing to the laptop. could it be the wireless hub (bt voyager 2500V)

btw my wireless card is belkin are they not a good make?

yes i did install new drivers as this is a brand new build (look at sig). could i get updates for them?

Try changing drivers for the hardware one at a time, until the problem goes, if that works, if its all newly installed its hard to say.

As said above, the "Tcpip - Event 4226" is ignorable - don't worry about that, especially as it's not affecting your laptop.

It could be one of the other two errors, though. Although I haven't researched into those errors :) See if things improve without the card in there..?
