Hi,
I have just upgraded my system with:

INTEL CORE I7 950 3.06GHZ (Nehalem)
ASUS SABERTOOTH X58 MOTHERBOARD
OCZ GOLD 3X2GB DDR3 1333MHZ

I am using an existing OCZ Vertex SSD and Nvidia GTX 275 card.

Windows 7 64bit

A couple of questions:

1. My windows experience index for the CPU has dropped to 5.6 from 6.9
(previous E6600 cpu)

Have I setup my system correctly?

2. I am using core temp program but it only showes core '0' temps. I tried other temp programs and it only showes core '0' as well.

It this a problem with windows recognising the upgrade or do I need to change somthing in the BIOS?

Any advice please.

I wouldn't trust Windows experience index. I upgraded my GFX from a HD4770 to a GTX460 and it gives exactly the same 3d graphics score for both of them. The frame rates tell a different story!

Open up task manager and performance tab. It should show 8 boxes on the cpu histroy. If it does, then the CPU is fine. (4 cores, with hyperthreading)

Thanks for all the help,

Is it possible to just update the drivers?

The temperature monitor software was installed after I upgraded the compnants.

If I have time in the next few days I will do a fresh install. :)

As others have said, it's standard practice to do a fresh install when changing the MB. It's not like changing a pci/e card since the MB ties in with the O/S a lot more.
