Hey guys,

Does the Windows Experience Index actually mean anything?

It rates my processor at 6.7 @ 4.7Ghz and 6.7 @ 5Ghz. If 5Ghz isnt 6.9 what is?

Pretty annoying when my RAM is rated at 6.8 when all I did to that is buy it for £40 and set the stock timings, whereas several hours of tweaking have gone into getting the CPU to 5Ghz.

I appreciate any comments.

Nope.

Windows Experience is not a great system and 7.9 being the highest kills me inside.

WEI shouldnt be used to rate how good your PC is, use a proper benchmarking tool to do it.

Depends on the processor. Mines running at 2.66 and rated at 7.4

I considered the numbers as a guideline, lower doesn't necessarily mean bad, but you need proper benchmarking is the only way to see how your pc is performing.

Just realises I made a mistake, im getting 7.7 and 7.8, not 6.7 and 6.8.

It's stupid as well, the way they take your lowest score rather than your average score.

Thats annoys me. 7.9 on everything apart from HDD which is 5.9

Score = 5.9.... -_-

You will have to get an SSD...

This has super annoyed me though, how do you get 7.9 @ 4.5Ghz and I only get 7.7 @ 5Ghz?

You won't get high with 1 SSD, i've got mine at its rated at 6.9. You'll need to raid 2 SSDs with 6gbps capabilities.

And it depends on the processor. Just because his speed is slightly less doesn't mean that his is less powerfull than yours.

7.3 on an ocz vertex 2e bigfoot 120gb.

Was 7.9 when it was first installed.

Going from 3.3GHz to 4.6GHz bagged me an additional .2 on CPU, giving me 7.8. RAM is 7.8 and all the others are 7.9.

Don't know why but it irks me and I'd quite like to see if 5GHz hits the 7.9...

Its not meant for enthusiasts. Honestly. The reason it gives you the lowest is to help idiots buy PC games.

If your graphics card was a 2, and everything else 7.9, then it would display an average of 6.7. Clearly the graphics card is not capable of running any latest games as it would be a poor bog standard on board jobby.

If it diplays the lowest, then its clear it will not run the latest game.

Mine is 7.5 for the record (processor, stock i5-2500K)

7.7 5850
7.8 Agility 3.

Seems to me WEI is a load of rubbish, no rhyme nor reason

Processor i5-2500K @ 4.4GHz - 7.6
Memory (RAM) 16.0 GB - 7.8
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 - 7.6
Gaming graphics - 7.6
M4 SSD - 7.9
