Hi,

I have a computer which is around 4 year old and the rating by Windows Experience gives me the following;--

Processor 6.3
Memory 7.1
Graphics 6.9
Gaming Graphics 6.9
Hard Disc 5.9

I would like to increase my Hard Drive rating, what would the community suggest?

Many thanks in advance.

Mike

Mechanical harddrives are limited to 5.9 anyway, only way to get higher is with an SSD or RAID. WEI is very flawed, so it's usually ignored.

Hi,

Thank you all for your help.
Could some one tell me how to set up a "Raid" configuration please?

Sorry to be a pain.

Kind regards
Mike

You need 2 or more harddrives with the same amount of space, and it's best to have them all as the same model for compatibility reasons.

You then set it up in the BIOS, but you will also need to do the registry tweak to have the RAID drivers enabled, otherwise Windows will crash since it's in IDE/AHCI mode.

The question is though... is it worth it? What are you trying to achieve?

Unfortunately you'll need to do a full system install when it comes to creating a RAID pack. It's not quite as simple as changing a registry key when you're converting from IDE to AHCI - ie upgrading to a SSD.

A RAID array needs to be setup in the RAID BIOS (usually entered by pressing CTRL+I or CTRL+G at the pre-os splash screen) which will automatically wipe any configuration you've already got on the drives.

Hi,

Thank you all for the information.

"Orcvader";--

I wanted to improve my hard disc experience of 5.9, given by Windows.

Kind regards
Mike
