Now I've done God knows how many regedits etc to try and fix this issue yet it STILL happens. It's so bloody annoying! Is there any way to apply a folder option to EVERY folder (none of this template nonsense)?

I'm on Vista X64.

Oh and is there anyway to stop it forgetting the settings? (tried regedits etc)

That article doesn't really make sense. It mentions are registry file yet it doesn't provide it.

Right I've done it - but it still forgets folders. When I auto-size columns it resets them when I go back in

It does the reg info is there and waiting just save it as .reg and go go go. I've been putting up with this nonsense but cheers for helping fix it :D Not that i've tested it just yet though :p

Read above, I read the instructions and found out.

Still doesn't work as far as I can tell (unless it isn't meant to fix auto-sizing)

DAMN this irritating. I read the instructions again and rebooted. So I go into my directory and auto size the columns and go back out. I then go in and they aren't sized properly (as in the column is too small so the whole word cannot be seen).

I must admit I don't use the folder /detail view often, as I tend to either have a list or medium icon sized folder view. However with the few folders that I do use the details view, and then I resize each column so that there is no 'compaction' of the words etc of each file, I have found that since I have used the method that I have linked above it does retain both the folder view and the resizing of each column within the folder.
Remember though I have only tried the resizing feature on a few folders where I maintain a detailed view and I did ensure that I followed each if the steps noted exactly for it to work.
I am not sure if the above was meant to fix the auto-resizing but up to now all seems well for me.

I got totally fed up with Vista constantly resizing and changing my folder view, it was so frustrating.
