Windows LIVE Local Maps - Amazing !!!

Pretty cool but not very up to date.
Our building was finished years ago but still in construction here:

I found where I lived at the time. I can just make out a red car on the drive. At first I thought it was the car that I've owned for a year. Then I realised that the new estate that's been built a few years looks like the beginnings of a building site. So now I think the car on my drive could actually be the one I wrote off in 2001.

Unfortunatly it's no good at recognising addresses :( If you put in a street name, or post code it often just doesn't recognise it at all :(

You can get very close to places like GCHQ though :)

If anyone's interested I've been really geeky and found most of the major RAF flying stations in the UK and saved them in a collection.

Awesome. Scampton is worth a look- see how the A15 was re-directed to make way for a runway extension, to accomodate the Vulcan

I think it's just a bit picky about the format. Try putting commas in, it's worked a few times for me :)

haha, it doesnt have my college on there, its still an old car park, ive been there for two years! :p

tbh i cant see much difference to google earth in my area, although i think it loads slightly faster than google, thats about it.

The Microsoft LIVE was absolutely crap throughout this whole country

You couldn't even zoom to a close enough level to see the streets in Amsterdam, and it's the capital!

I'll stick with Google Earth, which lets me see most of the area, down to the road markings. I can even see my neighbour's dog!

Consider how much of a headstart GE (Keyhole) had, in that it was (is?) _the_ commercial sat imagery program and that they have the data because people asked (paid) for it, and then you'll realise MS aren't doing much of a bad job (overall) :)

Competition is good

These maps are sooooooooooo old.
Can any Stokies remember that great big propeller they put up by The Britannia Stadium so that you could simulate skydiving? - thats still on there from about 8 years ago.

However, I'll add that its excellent for the coverage.
