Windows Live Messenger annoyances

I've got the latest full (non-beta) version WLM on my PC, running XP.

When I run WLM, sometimes the installer process appears and it ends when it can't a .msi file. I click OK and then that disappears and WLM runs. It did that just now when I signed on.

But earlier on today I signed on and the installer process didn't appear. I've not run a reg clean in ages. All I've done today is use CCleaner but only the IE files. No registry cleaning of any kind.

What is going on? Why is this happening only sometimes? For some reason reinstalling WLM and patching it up (A-patch) it works again properly, but only for a while.

Memory leak? Is this a symptom of my problem? I've just tried it now and MSN ran the installer, couldn't find the .msi file. I cancelled and MSN is running now. :confused:

Its something that hasn't been fixed since 7.5, and incredibly annoying.
