Windows Live Messenger problem

I decided to give Live Messenger another bash so I d/l it and installed, only problem is I can't sign in It just keeps trying to sign in but nothing happens. Have they changed the ports since 7.5? If so I'll have to forget about it as I'm at work and I don't think the it guys will be happy with me for asking them to play about with the firewall jsut for messenger live

Can't help, but this morning I had a big problem with live messenger. It took about 3 mins to log in and when it did all my contacts have/had disappeared. I'm back on 7.5 now.

Yes mate log in is hanging. It is not you.
Get the A-patch for live messenger as it gets rid of all the crap. Its the best patch ever in the history of patches.

Bah, I've given up on it. I tried that A-Patch thanks Malc, but I couldn't even get msn to run so I'm now back to 7.5, luckily I had a copy still otherwise it would have been a trek to find it on the MS site.
