Windows Live Messenger Problem

Ok guys i just reformatted my computer, installed window messenger signed in to my old account and i have no contacts. they have completely disappeared :confused: so panicking i installed msn 7.5 and low and behold my contacts are still on there but all of my groups have gone and it's all a mess again! 321 contacts to sort out fun! Anyone know whats causing windows live messenger to not pick up my contacts?
 
hmm, now i just installed msn 7.5 and it has all my contacts on there but none of the groups, but if i go onto my laptop and sign into msn 7.5 it has my groups and contacts :confused: something is up here lol
 
ok just managed to sign back into my account on windows live messenger and for some reason 5 of my 321 contacts are on there but the other's are not. what the hell is going on lol?
 
should have a pint of beer instead, just re-installed and it won't even sign me in! back on msn 7.5 and all contacts are there but all of my groups are gone! however on my laptop on msn 7.5 my groups are still there :confused: any ideas?
 
hmm true, but the thing is if i don't keep trying a re-install i can't use msn so i have to get rid of it to be able to get on anything, you have any ideas why my groups are on msn on my laptop but not my comp?
