Right, i have MCE installed atm, and when i play a DVD it crashes :/ .. sound still plays, video stops, and i cant press anything on the remote, and need to power off and back on

So i plan to reinstall MCE...

ATM, my initial install list =

Latest CAT drivers
Latest Mobo drivers
Latest TV Card drivers

PowerDVD 5
Real Alternative
Quicktime Alternative
DivX Play Package

anything else i dont have ?

I plan to install as little as possible with regards to video codecs etc, less to go wrong... that, plus a few games (LAN Rig) and i wanna keep it as simple as i can

with the current setup, just DVDs... all the rest is dandy... something, somewhere is causing problems, probably the multitude of codec packs i installed when i first set it up :o ... hence i want to install as little as possible this time

I have the following installed onto my HTPC and everything plays

Nvidia Forceware and Nvidia 430 chipset drivers
FFDSHOW
Realtime Alternative
TheatreTek
My Movies 2
OGG/FLAC Media Player plugin (although use Winamp for music playback)

That's it. FFDSHOW pretty much plays everything. Had to enable VP31 for a certain AVI. FFDSHOW is scaling to native LCD panel rez. I did have AC-3 filter installed, but because I only use SPDIF out FFDSHOW has options to send DD & DTS through SPDIF so I don't need it. DVD Player software has SPDIF options also. I think AC-3 filter is just needed when playing play AC-3 files via analogue outputs. AC-3 filter also does realtime upsampling from PCM to DD, and 2 ch DD to 5.1...but I don't want any of that, as my processor has better sound expansion (Logic 7)
