Windows ME won't boot !

Hi,

Looking at a PC for my mate, and it will not boot into ME. Tried getting to Safe Mode, but this too fails.....with a message along the lines of Windows File Protection......System stopped !

I have no real experience of ME's quirks, and - apart from trying a CHKDSK & SCANDISK don't know what else to do....worth noting that SCANDISK seems not to ever properly complete either, and has detected 2 Bad clusters.....

Any thoughts ? For me, I am thinking wiping/formatting and reinstalling, but he does not seem to have his Packard Bell (booo !!!) restore CDs....

forget me, its a piece of junk, get xp
