windows media connect and 360 problem

Just noticed it's refusing to start now..

Service 'WMConnectCDS' failed to start correctly, due to 'CreateMediaDevices' returning error '0x80004005'.
Check the event viewer and see if that's linked to any services that may not have started. Only thing I can think of (unless the installation has become corrupted).

Try loading Windows Media Connect, it'll fail if things aren't configured correctly. If that's the case, look in your event viewer under the System heading, and you'll probably have errors relating to Service Control Manager. If so, copy the text and paste it here for me to look at.

If Windows Media Connect works fine, then you should be able to use it to find your 360, and allow it access to your laptop.

I've loaded windows media connect and it didn't fail, I've checked in the event viewer and it seemed fine. I open windows media connect and it still can't find the xbox.............. I think it's time to give up on the idea

you said somethin about it bein connected to your wireless router??, is the xbox actually connected wirelessly or is it wired?? eitherway, do you know for sure that the xbox is actually connected to the network, faulty cat 5 cable maybe or just generally isnt connected wirelessly??? if it isnt then it would certainly explain why your lappy cant find the xbox??

The xbox is conneted wirelessly, I can go on live etc, so it is connected to the network. I've also got my lappy wirelessy connected to the same network abd can surf etc, I tried all suggestions this evening and the laptop still can't find the xbox. I'm sure it is something really stupid that I'm doing wrong, I only wish I knew what it was.
Thanks for all the help anyway guys, if you come up with anything let me know

could it be something to do with the network set up wizard???? cos normally you can surf the net without doing anything when connecting to a router that has the net on. but file sharing etc need you to set up a windows network and set up file sharing

could try running hte home networking wizard and see, making sure file and printer sharing is enabled

I know this is an old thread but i've been trying for the past 2 hours to get my 360 connected via media connect, after Davey's tips it's working.

YAY!!!

Stupid blumming microsoft, i was reading through their guides and It mentioned to make sure the UPnP was installed, It didn't say how to check whether it was or not, so I skipped over it, ghey!

edit: lol scratch that, I can see my 360 in windows media connect but the xbox itself still can't find my pc XD

Got a bit excited then when it popped up in media connect...
