Windows Media Player Jumping?

I just got a new laptop, but any vid/audio file i play jumps like a scratched cd would. Any ideas on whats causing this?

Is it just bad sound on the vid files, or is the pic affected too?

This just happen to Video files with audio or audio with no video?

Are the files being ran from the HDD or from a CD?

What format are they in? Are they hd? Its possible your laptop isnt powerful enough.

it happens with audio,and vid files of all formats. It effects both sound and video.

its also slowing down the whole pc when it happens. The laptop has 1gig ram and a 1.6ghz amd turion 64 processor.
