Windows Media Player Problems

First off, I really like Media Player as it, or did, just works. I used MP11 alongside K-Lite Codec Pack and Radlight APE Codec prior to format and it played everything I threw at it. That, and the missus prefers it over Winamp too.

However, I've recently formatted to swap out an ageing WD Caviar (+2x 80GB HDDs) for a Seagate 80GB SATA drive and a 400GB Maxtor for my media. All has gone reasonably well, but upon installing my audio drivers I tested an MP3... to which WMP9 stated that it couldn't play due a lack of codec/file unsupported. Odd - so I installed WMP11. Same again.

Right, try installing the codec packs. Nope, nada. Uninstalled WMP. Nada. Took WMP9 off entirely, WMP11 back on. Nada. Removed codec packs. Nada. Repeat ad infinitum. WMP Classic and Winamp play everything fine, and the codec for MP3s are there in the codec list.

Any suggestions?
